In 1980, during the Civil War in Beirut, Lebanon, a young Vivian Semaan and her family escaped to the U.S., leaving behind a country and people they loved.
The family maintained their culture and traditions, and Vivian grew up observing the vibrant Lebanese customs. She’s watched and learned as her mother and grandmother prepared traditional Middle Eastern cuisine from time-honored recipes, which were then handed down to Vivian. The Lebanese culture is passionate, full of love and respect, and delights in entertaining. These qualities have been the way Vivian has lived her life since childhood.
Vivian continued in the tradition of her family, cooking delicious and healthy Middle Eastern meals for her own family and friends. At their urging, she decided to share her family’s recipes and the Lebanese tradition of hospitality with the community by opening Mezza Middle Eastern Cuisine.
Mezza means “appetizer” in Arabic, but the menu at Mezza goes far beyond appetizers. With her mother by her side, Vivian carefully prepares authentic Middle Eastern entrees and desserts using the finest ingredients and a delicate blend of aromatic spices unique to the region’s cuisine.
